THE BRIEF & THE CORE ISSUE
In mid-2024, at the dawn of the Gen AI revolution, I entered a workshop dedicated to rapid, innovative film production.
The initial directive was simple: select a critical social issue and use emerging technology to create a short film.
My focus was immediate: Child Labor. I
was compelled to use this cutting-edge medium to give a voice to those whose dreams are often destroyed, hence the film's title, "Shattered."
SHATTERED
AI MUSIC VIDEO
A powerful music video tackling Child Labor, created entirely using emerging Gen AI tools (Midjourney, Runway ML). This project was an early-adopter case study focused on solving the critical challenge of maintaining character and style consistency across a complex, dual-reality narrative. Merging tech innovation with profound social commentary.

DEFINING THE VISUAL STRATEGY
After developing the core script and character, I needed a visual language that could match the gravity of the subject.
I defined the aesthetic by referencing the raw, expressive artistry of the Indian rap duo Seedhe Maut's album, न (N).
This served as the foundation for the film's gritty, texture-heavy atmosphere.

THE CINEMATIC CONCEPT: DUAL REALITY
To amplify the emotional arc of the film, I adopted a cinematic technique inspired by Scorsese's Shutter Island—maintaining two distinct visual styles to represent the child’s internal state:
Gritty Reality: Rusty, somber, and visually broken, emphasizing the harshness of his forced environment.
Imaginative Dreamscape: Stylized, ethereal, and hopeful, representing his brief, internal escapes from his plight.
TECHNICAL CHALLENGE: CONSISTENCY AT SCALE
The primary technical hurdle in using nascent Gen AI tools for sequential storytelling was ensuring visual consistency across hundreds of frames.
I needed the main character and the two separate visual styles to transition seamlessly and reliably, a known pain point for early adopters.

THE AI SOLUTION
Using Midjourney, I rapidly prototyped and deployed the advanced consistency tools: CREF (Character Reference) and SREF (Style Reference).

This was the critical breakthrough. By leveraging these parameters, I successfully locked in the protagonist's identity and ensured the dual-style aesthetic remained cohesive throughout the entire visual narrative.

MOTION GENERATION & ANIMATION
With the frames secured, I moved to Runway ML to introduce life and motion. This phase required precise experimentation to define the right camera movements (pans, zooms, dollies) and animation styles for each scene.
I meticulously generated the moving assets, ensuring the motion amplified the emotional context before the final compositing stage.

The music and vocals were essential to the film's narrative drive. I composed the core beat using FL Studio.
The recorded vocals were then processed through Suno AI and Eleven Labs to professionally enhance them, specifically to correct subtle pronunciation nuances and refine the melody.
This ensured a high-quality, impactful soundscape that married perfectly with the visual story.

FINAL COMPOSITING & DELIVERY
The final film was a multi-layered composite demonstrating full-stack production ability:
Frames from Runway were imported into After Effects for sophisticated VFX, transitions, and detailed edits.
The entire sequence was compiled and color-graded in Premiere Pro.
Auxiliary design assets, including the film's poster (Photoshop) and title logo (Illustrator), were created to complete the professional package.
This project, "Shattered," stands as a testament to my ability to adapt to bleeding-edge technology, solve complex generative AI consistency problems, and utilize a full production toolkit to deliver a powerful, emotionally resonant piece of creative work.
